FINCA
Denver Fabrics is a regular monthly contributor to the FINCA village banking program and
has been making monthly contributions since November 2000. FINCA assists impoverished women in third world
countries with small loans that can be used to start or grow their own business ventures.
We like giving money to FINCA, because it goes to highly motivated, deserving women. But
there's another reason. The money we give to FINCA is continuously recycled! They loan it out, but they also
get it back-97% repayment plus interest. Our money gets used over and over again.
The money we give to FINCA is generated by something we call the Denver Fabrics Fabric
Stash Program. Our Fabric Stash Program is the perfect option for our local customers who don't know what to
do with their ever expanding sewing room fabric stash. We all know its good fabric, too good to throw away,
but how can it be recycled. This is how.
Our customers bring their unwanted fabric to us. A small portion of it goes to local
non-profit organizations, but most of it we sell in our Annex stores on their fabric-by-the-pound tables. The
money generated by the sale of this fabric is then given to FINCA.
If you are a local customer and have not made Fabric Stash donations before, you might want to consider doing so. Just bring your fabric to our main store Customer Service desk. Think about the good you'll be doing. (Think about all the new space in your sewing room.)
Over $25,000 Contributed!
Thanks to the continuing generosity of our customers, as of July 2005, our Fabric Stash program had contributed over $25,000 to FINCA.
