Zipper Shortening

Shortening Dress Zippers At the Bottom

It’s Easy & It’s Economical & It Works!

Using this method, you can shorten zippers with confidence. It will not open! This method is suitable for dress weight zippers including invisible zippers.

This method is not suitable for a separating zipper.

  1. Close the zipper and mark the length needed.


  2. Bar tack over the zipper teeth by machine or by hand using a double thread. Stitch over the teeth 8 to 10 times.


  3. Cut the zipper off � inch below the bar tack.


  4. Install the zipper using the desired method.
