Sew great looking lingerie with a perfect fit.

Intimate plus-size apparel can - and should - be comfortable, practical, and sexy all at the same time.

Patterns, fabrics, and notions are the basic ingredients for wonderful lingerie designs, and they can be assembled to create infinite combinations. This book helps you create lingerie that you will treasure for yourself and that others will be thrilled to receive as a gift.

This book offers you three approaches for making your own special lingerie:

  • Patterns are included for a knit camisole and nightie, a bra top, classic panties, and maternity panties. They are simple shapes and provide the best fit possible, thanks to extensive testing.
  • Redesign and recycle your commercial pattern favorites into wonderful new plus size lingerie classics. Boxers, slips and maternity nighties all invite you to sample this approach.
  • The technique of drafting patterns is introduced in this book. Pattern drafting incorporates measurements of an individual pattern for a figure's unique size, empowering you to create your own plus size clothing undergarments.

Ask any sewing enthusiast what the hardest part of sewing clothes is, and they'll probably say "fitting." Why is fitting so hard? There are several reasons, and they all have to do with the relationship between commercial sewing patterns and the sewers who use them.

There is an obvious need for an easier and more exact approach to understanding fitting, including fitting for plus-size bodies. This book details a streamlined fitting process called Bodymapping, which results in a perfectly fitted base garment with no waistline seam, and is done without measuring the body.

Bodymapping uses the body as a template by using gingham (checked) fabric. By pinning out the excess fabric and marking the body's landmarks which must be in proper position for a perfect fit, it is as easy as wrapping a present and leaves little room for error. The resulting template becomes your personal Bodymap base pattern.
